Aventurine is a rough quartz that obtains its green, sparkling appearance from deposits of fuchsite (chromium mica). Aventurine received its name in the 17th century from the Italian 'a ventura', meaning 'randomly', which refers to its randomly deposited mica platelets. Aventurine is sometimes called Indian jade, or the stone of heaven. It was known as the gambler's stone because it is the luckiest of all stones in games of chance, and was often placed in charm bags to bring good fortune and money to the owner.

Spiritually aventurine reveals what makes us happy or unhappy. It fortifies our own self-determination and individuality. Aventurine can be used to induce psychic dreams, to bring answers, or to see into the future. It also increases clairvoyance. It is an excellent source of earth energy: hold it in the opposite hand from your pendulum when divining. Leaving aventurine in a green space is an amazing gift for nature spirits.

Emotionally aventurine enhances relaxation, regeneration and recovery. It helps with problems getting to sleep, makes us more patient and is calming to anger and annoyance. Wearing this stunning stone will calm free-floating anxiety and panic attacks.

Mentally aventurine bestows a multitude of ideas and enthusiasm, but at the same time encourages tolerance and acceptance of others' suggestions. Aventurine will help schoolchildren to easily remember their lessons.

Physically aventurine encourages regeneration of the heart. It stimulates the fat metabolism and lowers cholesterol levels. It helps prevent arteriosclerosis and heart attacks. Aventurine also has an anti-inflammatory effect, helps with skin diseases, skin eruptions and allergies and fortifies the connective tissues.

Occasionally rest aventurine in the leaves of a green plant during daylight hours to recharge its energies.
